3 Easy Tips for Decorating a Small Bathroom

Unless you are ready to begin demolition and to undergo a major home improvement project, you likely are not going to actually expand the square footage of your bathroom. Luckily, you don't have to tear down walls in order to make your bathroom look larger and, in fact, decorating a small bathroom does not need to be as difficult of a task as you might think.

Many of the general rules that apply to decorating small rooms also apply when it comes to decorating your bathroom. First, choose your colors wisely. Light colors will reflect light better and create an illusion of a larger bathroom. Therefore, you should select light colors for the walls and for the floor. If you want to add some color to your bathroom, choose accessories that will add more color.

Creative use of mirrors will also help you make your bathroom look larger. Thankfully, mirrors are commonplace in bathrooms. Therefore, decorating small bathrooms with mirrors will not seem out of place. Again, the reflection on the mirror will create an illusion of more space. Just be certain to avoid mirrors that are too large for the space, as this can appear out of place in the room.

Selecting the right shower door will also help make your bathroom appear larger. If you are using a solid shower door, choose one that is clear. This way, when the doors are closed, the eye will still be able to see all the way through to the back wall. If you are decorating a small bathroom with a shower curtain, leave the curtain pulled to the side when it is not in use. With these simple tricks, your bathroom will appear much larger than it actually is!
