Decorating Bedrooms - Using a Bed Head Or Headboard to Decorate a Bedroom

One of the most widely used and versatile features of a bedroom is the headboard or bed back of the bed. A bed back is one of the best solutions for decorating bedrooms that you can easily implement with very little cost or effort.

If the bed has a small or not very noticeable headboard the best way to make it a feature of the room is through the use of the wall backing the bed. These 'bed backs' can be used in just so many way to create such a unique and interesting look that you won't see anywhere else.

Here are some really good suggestions to make the bed back something interesting. Start simply with selecting a simple fabric with some interesting patterns or textures. Make sure the feel of the material fit into the theme or coloring of the bedroom especially the bedding and pillows, before you attach it to the wall. All you need to do is attach it via the top; I suggest mounting the top edge on a thin piece of dowel and attaching that to the wall to create a banner like appearance.

Another great way to create an interesting bed back you can use as a focal point when decorating bedrooms is with mirrors. Try applying mirror tiles to the bed back area in interesting patterns or shapes. The use of mirrors like this will increase the appearance e of the room also!

If you have kids or teenagers and you're decorating a bedroom of theirs why not incorporate their favorite bands or pop stars album art or posters into a decoration. An interesting way to do this is by using plywood as a backer and flexi glass (plastic) to mount a selection of record covers or posters into a 'wall mural' of sorts. You can create some really cool designs and use anything inside the 'frame' that they would find interesting.

If you don't have a headboard on the bad at all why not make one by placing a large picture frame behind the bed so that it half sticks up over the end of the bed forming a headboard. This can be used really effectively when you're decorating bedrooms to make the bed a little different and create a subtle focus for the room.
